      Advanced IMSADF

      Course Abstract: This course is designed to provide the skills necessary for IMSADF application programmers to create complex transactions. The primary focus of this course is the use of audit exits and special processing routines. This course supports both COBOL and PL/I users.

      Duration: 5 days

      Primary Audience: Experienced IMSADF application developers.

      Prerequisites: Experience designing, coding and testing IMSADF transactions.

      Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

      • Design, code and test complex IMSADF transactions using audit exits and special processing routines

      Class Format: Lecture with hands-on exercises.

      Cost: In-house: $10,000 for up to 15 students; $500 for each additional student.

      Topics:

      • Audit exits: Determining when to use them and how to efficiently code them; error handling; audit exit drivers; common module interfaces; invoking and linking audit exits
      • Special Processing Routines (SPRs): Detemining when to use them and how to efficiently code them; using SEGHNDLR call; clustered vs. non-clustered; SPR common module interfaces; linking and testing SPRs
      • Sign-on/sign-off Exits: Understanding their capabilities and Use
      • Common Area Use: Accessing and using the common area before and after IMSADF Version 2
      • Secondary Transactions: Passing control from one IMS transaction to another
