      IMS System Programming and Administration

      Course Abstract: This course provides students with the knowledge required to design, implement and administer the IMS system to ensure maximum system availability. Students learn effective IMS system administration skills including installation, recovery, problem identification, and problem resolution. Students also learn to respond more effectively to user needs and gain a greater understanding of problem-solving options. They learn effective techniques for consulting user manuals, thus freeing time for problem resolution.

      Duration: 5 days

      Primary Audience: IMS system administrators and technical support staff who coordinate or participate in the activities of system implementation, maintenance, problem determination and tuning.

      Prerequisites: IMS concepts and facilities knowledge.

      Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

      • Establish the requirements for and install the IMS system to meet your company’s application and business requirements
      • Understand internal functions for effective selection of system definition and tuning options
      • Identify problem areas and coordinate resolution efforts with appropriate functional specialists
      • Maximize IMS performance to meet critical application requirements within the scope of available resources
      • Discuss common IMS operations requirements and coping strategies
